Weaponsmith Salvage kit Idea
I would really like to see a limited use, high cost "Weaponsmith Salvage kit" it would work as follows.
(values are open for discussion just grabbing numbers to illustrate my idea.)
1) 5 uses
2) cost 50k
3) The kit allows you to choose which item to pull off the weapon by showing a list that you choose from. i.e.
a) Sundering mod
b) Health mod
4) Mod is customized for your own use only. (this will no doubt not be popular with those wanting to be the richest in game lol)
I know from my own experience, this would be really helpful, since everyone in game selling lately thinks they can rich off one sale so they ask 100k for damn near everything.

Like having different professions useful in Outposts with certain skills to help out others? Such as an outpost skill for free salvage, free identification and things like that?

Too good? It auto-customizes it for you...
I dunno, I can't see it being used all that often, and that's because of the price...
No, it's not too expensive and if I really wanted one I would buy one, but...with most mods being LESS than 50k for a perf...(last I checked most +30hp's were like 40k)...I could see people just buying the perfect mod and not wasting the money on the kit..
Sounds nice in theory..but kind of a worthless addition, sure, it's a money sink, but it won't be takin' in much money if the mods are cheaper than the kit itself...
If it DIDN'T auto-customize, it would be used a little more, since for 50k you could get like 200k from the 5 uses if all were used on perf mods...so it would be too good then...
I dunno, needs work,

xiaotsu, I suggested the auto customize to combat arguements it would kill the economy, but you could be right.
Hexgame, actually my idea was it would be an item you buy like the expert kit etc.. not an npc in cities, BUT that could work also.

i can tell you why the auto customize will not work.
it would obviously have to be customized to the character that salvaged it and you might not have a character with the right profession to use it or it might be a duplicate you would have no use/need for at all
EDIT
HERE IS HOW YOU BEAT THIS
sell it for a very high price to some one who wants that mod and lend them your kit (for a fee) if they dont have one of their own
the rich get richer bypassing any safeguard intended

Not really, when items become more accessible the price drops, so less profit.

then similarly, why don't we just supply an ingame mod trader?!, selling mod customised to characters?! that would deflate the price like a popped air balloon...

there are risks when you apply to a mod and when you salvaging a mod... it's a game of profit vs trade offs....
